Recently, when the journalist comes to the ecological demonstration forest project construction site of "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" on the south side of ebb gate of Laoyu River in the resort area, he is shocked by the scene before him: Previous endless desolate beach takes on an entirely newlook under the collaboration of green worker and large machinery, more than 200000 salt pine trees are uniform and full of vigor, a green corridor comes into sight under the sunshine and the scene is very spectacular. 

In the scene, the journalist sees that dozens of excavators, transport carts and other engineering machineries shuttle, nearly 300 green workers work hard nervously and orderly and the busy scene arises. It's reported that the ecological demonstration forest project of "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" constructed based on national wetland restoration work strategy of "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" and for the purpose of deeply implementing the idea of development of "green hills and clear waters being mountains of gold and silver" and accelerating construction of "four Binhais" here aims at building a characteristic coastal protection forest belt. 

Resort area management service center staff-Zeng Dapeng said: "Binhai demonstration forest project of national mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north ecological engineering commences to be built on Oct. 18 of this year. At present, 2900mu terrain trimming and weed clearing have been completed, about 0.2 million salt pine trees are planted, green coverage of 1000mu is completed and it's predicted that the whole project will be completed at the end of next year"  Binhai demonstration forest project of "national mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" ecological engineering is invested and constructed by Shandong Chenglin Ecological Technology Co., Ltd., which covers an area of about 3000mu, plants about 0.65 million nursery stocks with total investment of RMB 0.2 billion, mainly builds alkali-resisting plant windbreak, halophyte achievement exhibition zone, world's halophyte exhibition area, institute for biological studies and alkali-resisting plant research institute. 

In the scene, the journalist sees that planting method of salt pine trees is relatively simple, division of labor of green workers is clear, some of whom are carrying out fixed-point potholing, some of whom are putting the sapling and conducting backfilling and some of whom are watering for curing. Binhai demonstration forest project manager of "national mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" ecological engineering said: "salt pine tree is the ligneous plant which is the most resistant to salt and alkali in the world and can normally grow in the place several meters away from the seatwater. According to planting experiment in different salt and alkali areas, salt pine tree can still vigorously grow in the salt and alkali area with salt content of over 1%. Salt pine trees planted by us are planted in the original soil. Because water retaining capacity of the soil is bad, water-retaining agent shall be sprayed to the bottom of the basin before plantation. Because of lots of sand blown by the wind by the sea, we carry out bar erection and seedling thermal insulation at the same time after plantation of sapling." Pursuant to the principle of "appropriate tree in the appropriate soil, forming the forest based on points with flockig forest formed", the project vigorously plants salt pine trees and creates Binhai space with rich gradations. After completion of the project, here will become the demonstration forest belt of "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" with Binhai characteristics, technical research and development of coastal protection, ecological remediation and tourism value as well as further strengthen reputation and attraction of coastal cities. 

Zeng Dapeng said:" for the purpose of improving ecological environment conditions of coastal region in our district and realizing green coverage under the special environment of Binhai and under the support of District Party Working Committee and Management Commitment, our resort area actively cooperates with research and development institution and cultivates green plants suitable for growing in Binhai environment with advanced technology and experiment. Salt pine tree, salt willow, etc. cultivated can grow in the sand formed after hydraulic reclamation by sea sand, the target of owning things not possessed by others and owning more excellent things is accomplished, and the cheerful sea area, sunshine beach, landscape square and open forest greenfield are constructed." 

It's reported that "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north" is the wetland restoration project strategy proposed by the state in the "13th Five-year plan". "Mangrove forest in the south" refers to mangrove forest mainly built in the south and "willow in the north" refers to tamarix chinensis, reed and common seepweed herb mainly built in the north" which effectively recover wetland ecosystem. On the basis of wetland restoration engineering strategy of "mangrove forest in the south and willow in the north", our district makes full use of good features of salt pine trees, sturdily pushes various ecological engineering, steadily builds Binhai ecological and green system, does its utmost to build coastal green safety curtain in the north of Weifang and provides strong ecological support for accelerating construction of "four cities" in accordance with three-year action plan of great greening in Binhai District.
